Between tradition and modern times
Introduced by the Premonstratensian monks of the Abbey of Licques during the 17th century, turkeys are the stars of these famous local festivities.
Tradition and authenticity come from this feast, especially on Sunday morning. Around 10am, people are invited to taste the pork stew of Licques cooked by breeders in a cauldron and to follow the procession of local brotherhoods led by the herd of turkey hens. Then, a dinner dance is organised to the rhyme of the accordion.
On Saturday night, street shows with mechanical turkeys and more surprises will celebrate the poultry before guests keep up with a meal and some dance.
